When perfection is practically not feasible
Following the victory of the Liberal Party in Canada, let’s see what my thoughts are. I have to confess to a little something. I do not believe in the ability of a group of people to govern. So I am in favour of a minority government. We have too much bias and influence to be impartial in this kind of job. I also believe that we want to believe in this impartiality, a bit like we imagine our idols to be saints. But I think the reality is quite different.
The irony is that we have an actor as our Prime Minister, but beyond this joke, we still have the tendency to trust charismatic people. Have you ever wondered why? The answer is hard to hear. We trust them because we see it as a reflection of a person with positive behaviour. We’re not wrong. Positive behaviour develops throughout our lives, based on the relationships we have with others. As attractive people have had the easiest life in this way, attraction that is not completely detached from the biological sexual fact, in general, we apply our own relational approach directly to our choices in who we trust. At least, that’s what I think.
