When deep motivations take over
Today, we celebrate Purple Heart Day. Do you know what this is? Let’s look at it together. In the United States, Purple Heart Day is a day to honour the people who gave their lives and their health to the country’s military mission. In this article <LINK>, we spoke about what triggers armed conflicts, and it is almost impossible to deduce whether they are justified or not. We often talk about “escalation” in conflicts, but a more accurate term would be a “nose-dive”. A conflict worsens when the reason loses its power to resolve it. So, we end up using a demonstration of strength, and ultimately, use this strength.
In these cases, our soldiers are forced to apply all the concepts and tools that they have learnt and practiced throughout their various training sessions. When the two sides are face to face, a sense of reciprocity is created that will inevitably lead to losses among the enemies involved.
So, let’s take advantage of this day to honour the memory and the sacrifice of the people who, in our place and space, face the worst threats of humanity, and the madness of humanity itself.
