When deep moti­va­tions take over

Today, we cele­brate Purple Heart Day. Do you know what this is? Let’s look at it toge­ther. In the Uni­ted States, Purple Heart Day is a day to honour the people who gave their lives and their health to the country’s mili­ta­ry mis­sion. In this article <LINK>, we spoke about what trig­gers armed conflicts, and it is almost impos­sible to deduce whe­ther they are jus­ti­fied or not. We often talk about “esca­la­tion” in conflicts, but a more accu­rate term would be a “nose-dive”. A conflict wor­sens when the rea­son loses its power to resolve it. So, we end up using a demons­tra­tion of strength, and ulti­ma­te­ly, use this strength.

In these cases, our sol­diers are for­ced to apply all the concepts and tools that they have learnt and prac­ti­ced throu­ghout their various trai­ning ses­sions. When the two sides are face to face, a sense of reci­pro­ci­ty is crea­ted that will inevi­ta­bly lead to losses among the ene­mies involved.

So, let’s take advan­tage of this day to honour the memo­ry and the sacri­fice of the people who, in our place and space, face the worst threats of huma­ni­ty, and the mad­ness of huma­ni­ty itself.
