When we wish ourselves good luck.
Listened while writing this post, try while reading it :o)
This post is the last in a series which looks at the evolution of what is left of what we call democracy in my nation. These posts are best read in the order they were published. Starting at the 6th post in the series, for example, will mean that nothing makes sense to you, dear reader. Happy reading!
And so, with this concept, we may conclude this series of posts. The world being as it is, we just have to adapt. We need to choose whether populism should be the path that our future generations will follow. I would say that, just as we look to implement more and more carbon neutral solutions, and to responsibly dispose of consumer waste, we must – and I am categorical about this – we must sort out our problems right now, once and for all, and make sure that we don’t pass them on to our children.
A political reform must be put into motion, in the same way that an environmental one must be, or indeed the overhaul of any other systems which will no longer be of use tomorrow. The very best way to repeat our mistakes would simply be to obstruct any form or change or evolution. Of course, experimentation brings with it a certain amount of risk, but to perpetuate methods which are consistently letting us down, especially when we are aware of what we are trying to achieve, is the height of stupidity.
So we must talk, talk about reforms. Talk, talk and talk some more. We need to hammer home our messages, forget the latest must-see Netflix series, or snippet of gossip on whichever celebrity couple. We need only make a small sacrifice. Absolutely, if you have the energy to do more, go for it, but you’ll forgive me if I doubt many of us in this here 21st century will jump instantly off our huge arses and tear our gazes away from our screens. So use your ‘keyboard warrior’ superpowers- ready set, go!
The End.
