When you make something new out of the old.
I must remind you that I’m writing this post two months after New Year’s Day! It reminds me of a Youtuber who makes these kinds of videos where she goes back to the past to find out that the future isn’t much better after all.
I remember thinking for a moment that 2020 was a thing of the past, etc., but the date change is symbolic. Even the notion of a day is only based on the rotation of the earth. Yet, in our minds, we attach an important psychological notion to this event. Today more than ever, I think that to have indulged in the romanticism of the New Year would have been very short-lived.
I can’t believe that our way of life has gone from “let’s do it” to “maybe one day we can do it”. It’s just unbelievable. Will we ever get out of this impasse? Will those in power repeat the mistakes of their predecessors? How tense will we get before we permanently lose our knowledge? Can the future be saved in a society where the fear of excommunication is worse than hell, where a life of torture is better than immediate death?
Happy New Year.
