When animals act as a placebo
Well, I’ll admit, the word placebo is a little strong, but do whatever you like, I couldn’t help myself. But let’s still have a look at what this is all about. I use the word placebo as a crutch. Strangely, pets, a subject I touched on in the following article https://coachdanny.ca/2019/04/11/nationalpetday-2/ and this one too https://coachdanny.ca/fr/2019/02/20/loveyourpetday-2/, do remind me of my ultimate belief that humans are fundamentally good. In my opinion, those who claim the exact opposite are very close to being right, but in fact, they are wrong. The reason for that is the true deep layer of our humanity is relatively neutral. At these great depths, there is neither good nor evil. Everything is motivation, and who can blame self-defence for survival?
In the context of self-sufficiency, these basic instincts are mitigated, and we therefore attempt to secure our future. Would we do it to the detriment of others? Absolutely not. On the other hand, we maybe wouldn’t let ourselves die of starvation for the benefit of a stranger. But we can easily see several cases where people put their loved ones before themselves, including even their pets. So, let’s thank them for making it easier to see the type of humanity we wish for, rather than the one we do not wish for.
