When we ask why.
Listened while writing this post, try while reading it :o)
This post is the thirteenth in a series reflecting on the meaning of life and the importance of this question. These posts should be read in the order they are published as, starting at the 6th for example, dear reader, will mean the whole thing makes no sense. Happy reading!
‘Why?’ This question is very different to the one asked repeatedly by young children – the one they seem to prefer to any other of life’s mysterious questions! This question, however, begins to harass us when we enter our teenage years. Most of us will remember, if not the very first time it really started to resonate with us, but certainly many intense moments which were the result of it!
The question is a source of so much consternation that many of us prefer not to dwell on it too much and instead allow life to simply roll along. This makes sense – it’s commendable to choose the path of least resistance, to simply go with the flow without posing too many questions and creating obstacles for ourselves.
If, on the other hand, we decide to forge ahead and seek an answer, then this question of course becomes rather important, primarily because so many of us want to find the answer and also because most people will follow along if you tell them they’ll benefit from doing so, but also in case you ever need to convince any skeptics.
Until next time…
