When you go back to your roots.
I listened to this while writing this post, try it while you read :o)
This is the twenty-fourth in a series of posts reflecting on our willingness to remember and the quality of that knowledge. These posts should be read in order of publication. Starting with number six, for example, would make no sense to the reader. Happy reading!
Dismantling our world has not been easy. Where do we start? Starting at the end, I quickly realized the magnitude of the task. From iPhone X to Nokia phones, we were simply talking about phones here. This road was far too complex due to the speed at which various branches of technology have evolved. I needed a different strategy.
So I decided to jump straight into the past and try to validate the feasibility of building a telephone line, or even a telegraph line, but what was the point? Would we simply need this technology at least? Exactly what technology would we need? What needs would we be looking to fill? Needs. That was my starting point. Besides, it’s a subject that I know well and it brings us back to exactly where we would like to go. If we could start all over again and simplify our way of doing things without the constraints of preserving relics from the past, what would we need to have? So I decided to restart my analysis from this simple point. The list of our basic needs and the technological evolutions that we could rebuild without having to redo the trial and error of the past.
