When you ask: Who sings this song?
Here is a small series of posts that cover the most asked questions on Google. Most of these questions won’t be answered here. However, I might, for fun, give an answer if I personally know it. It’s mostly to have fun with why people ask so many questions.
After the question about the song itself, here is the question about who sings it. Indeed, it is legitimate to want to know the name of an artist that we appreciate. Whether it is a visual or auditory art, in any case, sometimes we want more. We are curious to see what else our artist has created. This is the case for me with book authors or feature film directors.
In the case of a song, as well as a movie or even a passage of a book that we would hear, we do not have automatic access to the name of the author of the work. This is relatively problematic in the case of an auditory work because, as mentioned in the post on the other question, we are pretty bad at describing a melody.
In fact, this brings me to the ultimate question. Remember when you described a painting, a building, or any visual object, how possible you thought it was that the person you were describing would use your elements of description and find the corresponding subject? This same hope was probably also alive in the mind of the person listening to you. However, in the case of a song, unless you hum it or say the words, describing a melody is quite unusual. This is a great challenge for future generations!
