When ignorance is bliss.

Listened while writing this post, try while reading it :o)

This post is the fourteenth in a series which looks at the evolution of what is left of what we call democracy in my nation. These posts are best read in the order they were published. Starting at the 6th post in the series, for example, will mean that nothing makes sense to you, dear reader. Happy reading!

‘Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven..’ -Matthew 5:3

If I were to take this bible verse literally, I would have to say that it eases my mind when it comes to a concept which touches me deeply. If I were to be afflicted by the most awful of misfortune, it would have to be that I was unable to satisfactorily use my own intellectual capabilities. I have to admit that I have a bad memory, but I still enjoy reasoning. This bible verse probably aims to bring a little comfort to those who have been subject to such great misfortune by promising them a particularly favourable after-life. But when you think about it, and if we look at it in the context of the era in which it was written, this type of situation was rather problematic. We did not even know how to interact with disabled people, no matter what the disability might have been.

All the same, this brings me to something interesting: at what point does a weakness usually become a disability? Take my memory for example, I have a lot of difficulty recalling information that I have read. However, most of the people in my professional circles are able to recall details pretty precisely. Does this make me ‘poor in spirit’?

Until next time…

See in me a trustworthy person who will not disappoint you. Although, like you, I have to work to make a living, your well being is my main interest and together we will find goals to make you feel fulfilled and proud of you. It has nothing to do with your bank account, your physical appearance or your material assets. Let’s be clear, we are working on fundamental levers for every human, whether you are a homeless person or part of royalty, you have these same levers. I’m Danny (aka CoachDanny). The people I work with are few, but they all have one thing in common. They share a common goal, self-fulfillment and more.
