When we must trust before to understand

To trust before we unders­tand will be the main chal­lenge of the next cen­tu­ry. AI is coming fast. It will require people to trust what AI com­putes. Let’s see what it means. AI will com­pute fast. As a conse­quence, we will get to a point where only other AI will be able to double check the first one. But how will we be ever able to trust them if we can’t double check them? The ans­wer is: by mea­su­ring the results.

Wow, don’t tell me you never heard about that. We should alrea­dy do this with our experts. Ins­tead of trying to double check how our experts got to a solu­tion, we should mea­sure the solu­tion value and pro­vide the expert with the feed­back it needs to enhance the reso­lu­tion. Now, AI will not be able to share with us the details of its ope­ra­tions. We will face the una­voi­dable rea­li­ty that we must trust it.

How iro­nic it is to trust some­thing non-human before trus­ting ano­ther human. But why will it be suc­cess­ful? Because we will believe that AI to be neu­tral, deprive of any hid­den per­so­nal inten­tion that would not be ful­ly ali­gned with our bene­fits. Final­ly, we will trust the AI not to think as we do think.

But wait, is that not the way a coach think? To enti­re­ly focus on its client suc­cess and wealth? Hmmm. Interesting.
