This post is the nine­teenth in a series reflec­ting on the mea­ning of life and the impor­tance of this ques­tion. These posts should be read in the order they are publi­shed as, star­ting at the 6th for example, dear rea­der, will mean the whole thing makes no sense. Hap­py reading! 

Com­pare an evol­ved life form to a uni­verse com­ple­te­ly void of life; an evol­ved huma­ni­ty to a life without intel­li­gence. When it comes to our huma­ni­ty, there is nothing left but our­selves, but how exact­ly are we evol­ved, in com­pa­ri­son to the very first human?

Well, here’s my first ans­wer for you. Are you exci­ted to find out what it is? It’s nothing more than to find a path which can lead us to an expla­na­tion of this life within us. And in fact, if we think about it too has­ti­ly, it’s some­thing that could result in us misun­ders­tan­ding ourselves. 

But we should watch out, we may very well dis­like the ans­wers we find! Asking our­selves this ques­tion could easi­ly trip us up or upset us. This is why I offe­red you a few dis­trac­tions before we jum­ped in dee­per. OK, here we go!

If you should ever need to com­pare your­self to the first humans, how would you do it? How would you be able to explain your evo­lu­tion in com­pa­ri­son to them? Would you be able to prove that your life is of your own making? That you are the grand orches­tra­tor of all that you are? And if that wasn’t the case, would you feel the need to fix that? And final­ly, if so, how?
