When you ask yourself: How to draw a dog?

Here is a little series of posts which cover the most Googled questions on the internet. Most of these questions I will not be able to answer here, although I can offer a response if I happen to have one. The main idea of this series is to have a bit of fun discussing why people ask these questions so often.

Remember the question on how to draw a rose? Well it’s the same sort of thing here. The technique that I know consists of beginning with the elements that we see straight away and then moving onto the things we notice next. Of course if you were looking to get into illustration professionally, or to test out a particular style or technique, I would advise you to look up a specialist site. However, allow me to just add one thing.

If you ask me, if you want to get into drawing seriously, then there are two main things to bear in mind. Do you want to do this as a hobby, or to earn money? In my view the two are incompatible. The first tends to lead you towards perfectionism, whilst the other is more about performance. These two approaches exist at work, just as with artwork. The two are mutually exclusive. If your team is made up of these two types of people, you will inevitably encounter problems and conflicts.

It is therefore very important to have the right attitude towards your art, because you will be much better placed to manage your expectations as well as those of your clients if you decide to pursue a career in graphics or illustration!

Let’s be clear, we are working on fundamental levers for every human, whether you are a homeless person or part of royalty, you have these same levers. I’m Danny (aka CoachDanny). The people I work with are few, but they all have one thing in common. They share a common goal, self-fulfillment and more.
