When we want a quick fix.

Listened while writing this post, try while reading it :o)

This post is the ninth in a series which looks at the evolution of what is left of what we call democracy in my nation. These posts are best read in the order they were published. Starting at the 6th post in the series, for example, will mean that nothing makes sense to you, dear reader. Happy reading!

An election is, when all’s said and done, a simple way of relieving ourselves of our responsibilities for a while. We are subjected to a few weeks, if not months, of marketing campaigns towards which we are pretty passive and we are then obliged to go out of our way to actually cast our votes. The last time I voted it took me 20 minutes to get there plus 10 minutes waiting in the polling station- I used this time to order an election night pizza, a little tradition we have established to help us through the wait while the ballots are counted. And then we have four years of seeing what we actually ended up with.

The way things turn out rarely resembles what was set out in the manifestoes brandished about during the campaigns. Even when a party has promised significant changes, there is usually a huge difference between the vision, and the end result. From the very moment a leader gains power, we rarely see them risk it in the name of the greater good. When we promise something to someone, even if this thing is something that the person to whom we have promised it truly desires, it is likely that if a change is required, that person will still expect you to keep the promise- along with the amendments. By the same token if you do not keep the promise they will resent you! 😆

Until next time…

Coach Danny

See in me a trustworthy person who will not disappoint you. Although, like you, I have to work to make a living, your well being is my main interest and together we will find goals to make you feel fulfilled and proud of you. It has nothing to do with your bank account, your physical appearance or your material assets. Let’s be clear, we are working on fundamental levers for every human, whether you are a homeless person or part of royalty, you have these same levers. I’m Danny (aka CoachDanny). The people I work with are few, but they all have one thing in common. They share a common goal, self-fulfillment and more.
