When the world unravels.
This is the fifteenth in a series of posts reflecting on the general decline of civility. These posts should be read in order of publication. Starting with number six, for example, would make no sense to the reader. Happy reading!
Telling the story of the small world with an added logic that would have led to the unfolding of events is mission impossible. We live in an ecosystem that is continuously self-regulating and we constantly adjust our behaviors based on the interactions we have. For example, someone stares at you on the street and you start to worry. You go home, tell someone you trust and that person, although they were not planning on telling you about it before then, reassures you that there is nothing to worry about.
And there you go! You feel better, you move on, life goes on. A great example of self-regulation, isn’t it? Maybe the person who stared at you really did have bad intentions for some reason, maybe they were looking for their next victim, but one person staring at us is not a criterion for calling the police and another person may or may not have been the victim of this individual!
To be continued…
