When the world unravels.

This is the fif­teenth in a series of posts reflec­ting on the gene­ral decline of civi­li­ty. These posts should be read in order of publi­ca­tion. Star­ting with num­ber six, for example, would make no sense to the rea­der. Hap­py reading!

Tel­ling the sto­ry of the small world with an added logic that would have led to the unfol­ding of events is mis­sion impos­sible. We live in an eco­sys­tem that is conti­nuous­ly self-regu­la­ting and we constant­ly adjust our beha­viors based on the inter­ac­tions we have. For example, someone stares at you on the street and you start to wor­ry. You go home, tell someone you trust and that per­son, although they were not plan­ning on tel­ling you about it before then, reas­sures you that there is nothing to wor­ry about.

And there you go! You feel bet­ter, you move on, life goes on. A great example of self-regu­la­tion, isn’t it? Maybe the per­son who sta­red at you real­ly did have bad inten­tions for some rea­son, maybe they were loo­king for their next vic­tim, but one per­son sta­ring at us is not a cri­te­rion for cal­ling the police and ano­ther per­son may or may not have been the vic­tim of this individual!
