When you lose control.
I’d encourage you to read yesterday’s post before this one.
Assuming that our reasoning is correct, that our leaders think they are doing the right thing in a context where everything seems to prove them right, but that in any other context, it would be very questionable, how out of control are we? Let’s consider at the following reality.
How much energy does it take for a politically immune leader to make a decision in a context of social fear? How much energy does it take for a citizen to oppose or reverse this decision in the same context? We are talking about two humans born in the same way, under the same conditions. The difference is that one of them has been elected by the current electoral system to govern. We can therefore say that they are within their democratic right to make decisions, but what if these decisions were to go against their rights and freedoms? I refer you to my series of posts on freedom, which raises the following: Freedom ends where the free actions of some impact the safety of others. But this concept of safety, how do we define it and who defines it? Isn’t a total curfew, as we have been experiencing for two months, questionable?
To be continued…
