When you must be aware of the world.
I’d encourage you to read yesterday’s post before this one.
In a political context, the context of the fear of dying is the most powerful. On one hand, we have citizens who want to survive, parents who want their children to survive, children who want their parents to survive, and so on. In Quebec, we have amended the law to increase the flexibility of medical aid in dying. However, even this situation disturbs me in because it makes us realize that we are, in fact, not free to die. How is this possible? I do wonder. If, for example, religious people don’t wish to use the medical aid in dying service, so be it, but how can they object to others using it? How can a person who decides to announce their intention to die to their loved ones not be satisfied? Doesn’t freedom go from creation or birth until death?
It can therefore be said that if anyone in a society can oppose a person’s wish to die, there’s no need to consider any other option than survival at all costs. A leader can therefore confidently base their decisions strongly on the survival of the population without even considering asking anyone else’s opinion.
To be continued…
