When it’s time to choose.

This is the twen­tieth in a series of posts reflec­ting on the impor­tance of our actions and what we do to contri­bute to some­thing, and ideal­ly, some­thing grea­ter. These posts should be read in order of publi­ca­tion. Star­ting with num­ber six, for example, would make no sense to the rea­der. Hap­py reading!

Thus ends this quick jour­ney of self-rea­li­za­tion and a mea­ning­ful pas­sage on earth. Being a human focu­sed on the well-being of your neigh­bor or dedi­ca­ted to the cap­ture and pas­sage of know­ledge. Fai­lure to make one of these choices, with­dra­wal and non-impact remains a sad but accep­table alternative.

Whe­ther you are from the ancient or the modern world, these 3 choices have always been essen­tial to the sur­vi­val of the human spe­cies. Their avoi­dance has crea­ted suf­fe­ring, unhap­pi­ness and regres­sion over time and, des­pite eve­ry­thing, I am hope­ful that we can hope for a bet­ter future for eve­ryone. In any case, only this situa­tion will allow the evo­lu­tion of huma­ni­ty and give it the chances of long-term sur­vi­val that it can hope for.

No mat­ter what natu­ral disas­ter strikes, secu­ring know­ledge will give eve­ryone the oppor­tu­ni­ty to tap into this source to solve pro­blems. A favo­rable cli­mate will pro­vide the hope neces­sa­ry to save eve­ryone. Notice that these three choices are in no way rela­ted to our posi­tion in socie­ty. Whe­ther you’re a far­mer, a lawyer, an engi­neer or a tea­cher, eve­ryone must choose.
