When you think for yourself.
This is the sixth in a series of posts reflecting on the importance of our actions and what we do to contribute to something, and ideally, something greater. These posts should be read in order of publication. Starting with number six, for example, would make no sense to the reader. Happy reading!
Breaking the routine. Did you know that these posts are clearly aligned with their tag? Self-fulfilment is clearly, in my opinion, the key to the pyramid of needs. Always in the logic where the higher levels secure the lower levels.
What is interesting about this pyramid is the principle of security. Although the feeling of security is a category of needs to be met, we can also say that it is at the center of the concept, both figuratively and literally. Securing our biological life, then our psychological life, the upper floors are only used for that.
That’s how our routine comes into play. If it allows us to maintain our standard of living, whether personal or professional, it also becomes an easy option. It becomes the path of least effort. Not the path of least physical effort, many of us struggle to make ends meet, as we say. It is rather the path of least psychological effort. Avoiding choices, avoiding re-evaluating risks, these two situations cause the arrival of our original enemy, uncertainty. It is clear that accepting to break your routine is accepting to face this fear.
