When you have to choose the right channel.
I listened to this while writing this post, try it while you read :o)
This is the ninth in a series of posts reflecting on our willingness to remember and the quality of that knowledge. These posts should be read in order of publication. Starting with number six, for example, would make no sense to the reader. Happy reading!
Good or bad, we have this tendency to put everything in these two boxes. But is this the right thing to do? I don’t think it is. For example, supra-channel communication could be done to make us react in times when we know our mind would consume time for unnecessary reflection. An ultrasound-trained dog could be very efficient in certain tasks. Similarly for us, waking up in the morning with a simple signal, or reacting to an emergency or “déjà vu” situation could make us more efficient. This technique could even be used in a teamwork context during sports or intellectual events.
The infra-channel, on the other hand, would be less efficient in some situations, but superior in others, especially when we need to align ourselves culturally or intellectually. It is important to take the time when communicating to reflect, to inspect our own values in relation to what is presented to us. That being said, reflection does not happen on its own. First, we must know how to use this channel. Both in the chair of the transmitter and the receiver. Let’s take a closer look at what this could mean.
