When you look for needs.
I listened to this while writing this post, try it while you read :o)
This is the twenty-fifth in a series of posts reflecting on our willingness to remember and the quality of that knowledge. These posts should be read in order of publication. Starting with number six, for example, would make no sense to the reader. Happy reading!
Which need should I take first? Basic needs of course, but I could start a little further than physiological needs. What about safety? No. In fact, the wisest thing would be to start at the source of everything. What we all have in common is the need to exist physically. The need to be free from physical pain and to have a functional body. Healthy body, healthy mind, right? So I went there for the need to live.
Simply living, not necessarily living healthy. Let’s remember that I was trying to focus on basic needs, really basic needs.
So I created my first list of needs to explore.
- Basic needs
- Being alive
- Drinking
- Eating
- Clothing
- Housing
- Transport and travel
- Safety
- Membership
- Self-esteem
- Self-realization
So I started out in a linear way, taking the approach I would take if I had to cross the ocean. In a straight line, following each crevasse, without jumping over a particular subject. After all, my intention is conservation and survival, so why lie to myself and put myself at risk. So I started with the first topic, being alive. It opened my mind to many questions that I had never thought about before. Excellent!
To be continued…
