When you see how far you’ve come.
I listened to this while writing this post, try it while you read :o)
This is the eighteenth in a series of posts reflecting on our willingness to remember and the quality of that knowledge. These posts should be read in order of publication. Starting with number six, for example, would make no sense to the reader. Happy reading!
I think we need a little time to review our itinerary so far. We started our journey taking memory as our starting point. Considering its imperfection, we needed artificial solutions to give us a hand. We visited the source of technologies, different according to the region, and depending on necessity and curiosity. Natural selection has also done some work on knowledge and technology.
Then we got onto the aspect of having no solution to our problems. Sometimes from natural causes, sometimes from inequality between humans. Very complex psychological problems that require an acceptable method of resolution.
I suggest going back to our early technology. At first, we may think that everyone was not equal. The “intellectuals” of the time had to face the principle of fear of the unknown. With the average human preferring stability and simplicity, they must have been quite frightening. Wizards, demons or other disturbing chimeras. But little by little, some were sure to show finesse and found the key to defuse the risks of difference and demonstrate the benefits for everyone, slowly but surely.
To be continued…
