When we evolve without realizing.
I listened to this while writing this post, try it while you read :o)
This post is the twenty-third in a series of posts about a reflection on our ability to socially evolve. These posts should be read in the order of their publication. For example, starting with the 6th would make no sense to the reader. Happy reading!
We are facing an important truth. Forgetting the past can hurt us, very badly in the not so distant future. How many of us know how to kill bacteria, and know the conditions under which they grow or do not grow? How many of us know how to generate electricity or how a combustion engine works? How many of us know how a basic electronic circuit works, how these circuits manage to make a basic mathematical calculation?
All of these questions bring us back to a point where the escalation of specializations can lead us to a dead end in our evolution. Like mountaineers in the middle of a climb, we could remove our anchors which would allow us to retreat to take a different, easier or simply possible route. Like hikers in the forest who rely on their GPS to trace their route without ever really paying attention to the natural landmarks that would allow them to retrace their steps.
It is our responsibility to learn the original knowledge, the original sciences, or at least to have access to them. Thanks to this heritage, we will be able to rethink our innovations and guarantee security for our descendants.
My next post will focus on this reality that we must guarantee, thank you for coming along with me on this long series on evolution!
The End
