When you get back in the saddle.

This post is the eigh­teenth in a series of posts about a reflec­tion on our abi­li­ty to social­ly evolve. These posts should be read in the order of their publi­ca­tion. For example, star­ting with the 6th would make no sense to the rea­der. Hap­py reading!

So I’ve tal­ked to you about the impor­tance of exper­tise. And if we come back to our small com­mu­ni­ty, uni­ting the work­force and the experts, why is it so important?

First­ly, we have increa­sed our stan­dard of living. We live bet­ter, for lon­ger and free from many dan­gers and suf­fe­ring. And so on, each time we have added a stone to the castle that we have built for our­selves, we have added a watch­man to make sure that the stone stays in place. We have also set up a sys­tem to replace these stones because, when they are too worn out, they are repla­ced. Thus, lit­tle by lit­tle, we have moved fur­ther away from this ground and have slow­ly consi­de­red this ground as our new ground.

This new ground, which is now seve­ral meters high, now relies on eve­ryone to pro­tect its foun­da­tions. Some people, diz­zy with ver­ti­go, dream of retur­ning to the real ground. Going back to their roots, as they say. Among them, some choose volun­ta­ry exo­dus, others, unable to live by them­selves while being com­ple­te­ly deta­ched from the rest of huma­ni­ty, in the grip of strong emo­tio­nal depen­dence, pro­test and dis­turb in order to convince the masses to change their way of life.
