When technology is important.
I listened to this while writing this post, try it while you read :o)
Today, Storm Ellen is passing over the United Kingdom. In the era of technology, I think we need to take a few moments to remember some basic concepts. Let’s go. Let’s start from the beginning, before the advent of telecommunications, before the occurrence of modern science, there was, of course, the era of human predictions. Interpreting signs and omens was the norm. Logic acted as a prerequisite to get us close enough to what would become a scientific revolution.
Then came all kinds of “meters”, like hygrometers, barometers, etc. Neutral instruments that helped us detach ourselves from the subjective judgment of humans. However, these instruments were not available everywhere and unless we had one in our living room, it was difficult, if not impossible, to have a real-time measurement. Then came the real-time communications and forecasts of our time.
This applies to many things in our lives, but one aspect is still impossible to replace. Catching up with our loved ones and friends is still something that must be done with a sense of warmth and human closeness. Technology can do a lot of work in warning people of danger, but it can never be applied to the analysis of a free spirit, even if it could save lives, do we want a world where we would be constantly supervising the chemistry of our thoughts?
