When we have to remember, again.
I listened to this while writing this post, try it while you read :o)
Yesterday, we were talking about democracy and its evolution. The idea came from the tag that made a buzz on Twitter. We talked about the importance of learning from the experiences of others to avoid repeating mistakes.
But we often have to try again and again to achieve lasting success. Democracy is no exception to this rule. I have always seen the world as a big spiral. We rotate more and more precisely until we reach a target that was initially unknown. But as we advance, if we get closer to our target, we realize that the spiral is redesigning itself and that the centre becomes the new wave and that another centre point emerges.

Still, democracy is improving decade after decade, but is undergoing major reforms in order to better rebuild itself. We wouldn’t go back, but sometimes, improving feels like a step backwards. You have to rise to the occasion to see that we are in fact moving forward. It’s a bit like when a bus goes past you when you are at the stop.
