When we have to remem­ber, again.

I lis­te­ned to this while wri­ting this post, try it while you read :o)

Yes­ter­day, we were tal­king about demo­cra­cy and its evo­lu­tion. The idea came from the tag that made a buzz on Twit­ter. We tal­ked about the impor­tance of lear­ning from the expe­riences of others to avoid repea­ting mistakes.

But we often have to try again and again to achieve las­ting suc­cess. Demo­cra­cy is no excep­tion to this rule. I have always seen the world as a big spi­ral. We rotate more and more pre­ci­se­ly until we reach a tar­get that was ini­tial­ly unk­nown. But as we advance, if we get clo­ser to our tar­get, we rea­lize that the spi­ral is rede­si­gning itself and that the centre becomes the new wave and that ano­ther centre point emerges.

Still, demo­cra­cy is impro­ving decade after decade, but is under­going major reforms in order to bet­ter rebuild itself. We wouldn’t go back, but some­times, impro­ving feels like a step back­wards. You have to rise to the occa­sion to see that we are in fact moving for­ward. It’s a bit like when a bus goes past you when you are at the stop.
