When we need to remember.
I listened to this while writing this post, try it while you read :o)
Today, we are treated to a tag that seems to stand out from the usual ones. That’s great, especially in the context of my evolution posts. Let’s go. Of course, we all know the famous phrase, “3 steps forward, 2 steps back”, but do you know the meaning of this phrase?
The first time I read it, it was written in the lines of a book (my memory fails me) by Bernard Werber. It represents the essence of the trial and error model. We often have to try several times before a success. On the other hand, success is often worth slightly more than the cost of failure. In the modern world, that can be difficult to see on a daily basis. We benefit so much from the successes of the past without having to experience all the failures from all of the attempts, and so we see failure as something that is very difficult.
It reminds me of the character Eastman in the series The Walking Dead. Eastman has a goat, Tabitha, who gives him milk. Eastman is looking to produce goat’s cheese. He has no recipe to follow, but depends on his personal knowledge. Like many before him, he tried several times and if he’d had the chance to benefit from the general knowledge of other cheesemakers, he probably would have succeeded the first time.
To be continued…
