This post is the sixth in a series of posts about a reflection on our ability to socially evolve. These posts should be read in the order of their publication. For example, starting with the 6th would make no sense to the reader. Happy reading!
I am quite proud of my logical path. It may be fallacious, in other words, erroneous or false, but I believe that it is based on recognized, tried and tested concepts, and does not reveal an extraordinary reality that would be a revolution of humanity. It is just fair enough, in my opinion, and has the merit of being honest.
So what about education in the broader sense? Individually, it has its first quality of making us all independent. Knowing how to maintain a home, cook food, etc. So what could education be used for in a social sense? Let’s have a look.
Education in a broader sense stems from the logic of Adam Smith and the wealth of nations. Let’s look at a nation as a group of people, as a community. Within a group, unlike solitary individuals, we get to sample the specialization and benefits it offers.
Initially, it allows an individual to produce a lot if they focus on a single occupation, a single activity. On the other hand, it has the disadvantage of leaving basic needs unsatisfied, which could lead to a threat for the survival of the aforementioned individual.
