When there’s nothing on the radar.
I listened to this while writing this post, try it while you read :o)
After a quick scan of the Twittersphere, I came to the conclusion that a post on my library is required. Let’s go. After reading the prized Gagliardi work, I looked at a book that had previously attracted my attention. Leadership and Performance Beyond Expectations by Bernard Morris Bass.
First of all, this book wasn’t necessarily very high in my ranking when I decided to tackle it, but it had an interesting peculiarity, it was nowhere to be found, even on the used market. It had become a collector’s item and the few copies available were priced beyond a reasonable threshold. ($250+)
So I went back to public libraries, unsuccessfully, and then to university libraries. There was a copy of the book in my area and I decided to go and consult it on-site (pre-Covid) and start extracting its knowledge. I must admit that although this task was relatively pleasant, it was energetically demanding. In order to make my trip as lucrative as possible, I had to spend the whole day there until the end of the evening. I must say that I have missed these long sessions of calm but intense work.
Unfortunately, I still haven’t finished reading this book! I have instead completed the extraction of his bibliography.
To be continued tomorrow.
