When you escape.
I listened to this while writing this post, try it while you read :o)
Since the internet is still broken, I’ll be happy to continue my literary streak. :o) Let’s go. I was telling you that I had changed my method of expanding my library, and here’s what I did.
First of all, I was without a doubt inspired by other search engines. My goal was to find the main flow of my readings. Let me explain. Taking my first three books, I wrote down their bibliography, footnotes and references found within the text. This gave me a table of about 1500 works. Some were simply present in the bibliography, others cited within the text with or without footnotes.
I then assigned a weighting to each reference. Positive if cited in the text, neutral if present only in the bibliography, negative if it was a work of the author or co-author of the book. I then increased the value of the references as follows. The more an author cited a variety of sources, the more valuable the most cited sources were. On the contrary, if an author cited only 3 sources, for example, even if they cited them 100 times each, the value of these three sources was low, penalised by the lack of diversity.
To be continued…
