When reading is good.
I listened to this while writing this post, try it while you read :o)
Yesterday, I told you about a book I found by chance, let’s continue. This book, Comprendre et mesurer la capacité de changement des organisations (Understanding and Measuring the Capacity for Change in Organisations) by Taïeb Hafsi and Christiane Demers, was a revelation for me. It was the spark that I needed to slightly modify my vision of the world and get me into a more autonomous stage. But let me tell you a little bit about this book.

First, this can be considered a reference work. Written by two advanced academics, this book attempts to summarise elements that could influence an organisation’s ability to change. The book presents a modest bibliography, but slightly above average (at least from my personal library :)) The authors, in my opinion, achieve their aim.
The book alternates between references from the field and suggestions from the authors. The structure uses a model of propositions and ends with a general proposition. My only wish for this type of work is for it to have a conclusion or summary for each chapter, as J. D. Thompson does in his book, Organizations in Action.
This book has obviously whet my appetite to learn more on the subject and so I ordered the two most cited works from it. I’ll save them for tomorrow, though!
