When you say absolutely anything.
I listened to this while writing this post, try it while you read :o)
For over a year now, I’ve been watching the web and here is what happens. When you have a serious topic and you can’t find the right words, you have fun caricaturing it, laughing at it, making sarcasm out of it. Sometimes, however, it is necessary to act and a simple sequence of words must be heard, understood and executed.
Do you believe that humour is at the heart of verbal exchanges in the health care system? Would you like your oncologist to be 95% humour and 5% serious? This is not a reproach, but too often ridiculing reality, too often to avoid wanting to face up to it, it could be difficult to communicate.
How do you tell the difference between real distress and humour if our style of humour denigrates distress? How can you distinguish between signs of anger or fear if you spend your time making fun of them? There is a time for humour and a time for silence for the work accomplished.
What about you? What do you think? Do you think we have reached an imbalance between mockery and consideration? Between reality and fiction? Time is conducive to proactive behaviour, but even more so to active behaviour. Let’s not be mere spectators.
