When you have to get back into a routine
I listened to this while writing this post, try it while you read :o)
This post is the eighth of a series of ten posts about certain aspects of our lives during the COVID-19 crisis. These posts must be read in order, starting with the 6th post would make absolutely no sense to the reader. Enjoy reading and above all, enjoy reflecting.
A moderate response will allow for a continuous search for new information. While nothing is certain, we will hesitate not to engage in one or the other avenues. Fight or flight? Flight can be akin to inertia. However, it consumes energy that inertia preserves. Fighting consumes more energy, but this strategy can succeed in eradicating evil.
In the context of Covid, flight and inertia are denial and willful ignorance. I’m not going to use the term sceptical here at the risk of associating it with the “climate-sceptic” which denotes a certain negative flavour. Scepticism is positive as long as it does not become bad faith. Doubting, ignoring or refusing to believe that a crisis is underway can lead to consequences for the main people involved. They will inevitably have to face the fighters. They could be associated with the source of the problem and be stigmatised as encouraging the crisis because of their lack of involvement.
The inquisition that could follow would be very damaging to the social make-up and the followers of this strategy would be badly placed in front of those who are motivated by fear.
To be continued tomorrow…
