When we get our fill
Recently, I’ve increased the amount of time I spend reading quite significantly, so let’s see how that is inspiring me. The type of reading I’m doing has a strong chance of not being of interest to absolutely anyone. The readings I’m doing are on the organisation of human actions. The first context we think of when we imagine humans coordinating themselves to achieve a goal is without a doubt business organisation (sorry to any athletes out there).
In my readings, I scan through the 19th and 20th centuries in search of new revelations. Instinctively, I have always applied systematic thinking. I see things in an interconnected way, one thing always having a consequential relationship with another.
The readings I scanned through touched on the analysis of organisations and their respective evolution, the types of relationships between working groups and their environment or with other working groups, the importance of administration for organisations, the value of people at the heart of organisations and others. All of these subjects are fascinating.
The most difficult part about all these readings was certainly to keep my critical mind active whilst reading them and to remain alert so as not to simply make it a passive reading, or even worse, an active-blind reading, but rather to make it an active-educated reading. And what about you? When reading these blog posts, do you question some of my ideas or even some of your own?
