When we must regain our calm
This week, the stock market has suffered a right fall. Let’s have a look. Like many of you, I have a few dollars in the stock market. I must admit that I have no idea what is going on in this industry. Like many of you, I have faith. Faith in my government to tell me that this is the right thing to do, faith in my financial advisors to tell me that I have to put this money away.
Just as conflicts are a part of human life, stock market fluctuations are a part of financial markets. What bothers us the most, I would say, is that just like the environment, it is one of the two systems that impacts all of us based on the behaviour of others. Imagine if your neighbours who argue every day come into your home during their argument, cause damage, and then go back home, without giving you a penny for the repairs. That’s how the stock market and the environment work.
The nice thing about financial markets is that it is instantaneous, whereas, when it comes to the environment, which works in the same way, it is very slow. It’s funny how the former creates so many emotions, while the latter leaves many people indifferent.
