When you have to ask your­self the question

So girls? What are you wai­ting for to take over the field of science? Let’s think about it. I won’t go into great detail about why we should be dea­ling with such and such a topic, but one thing is for sure: this kind of topic depresses me.

First­ly, are we still tal­king about the place of women, men or any sub­set of our socie­ty? Why?! Take, for example, science publi­ca­tions. Right now, I’m rea­ding a lot of books that are quite a few years old, and I have to admit that white men are over­re­pre­sen­ted. But that doesn’t detract from my cri­ti­cal judg­ment of their work!

If a per­son named Cha­bi­bu­bo Smith publi­shed a manus­cript or research paper, first of all, that name does not exist. Second­ly, the name Smith can­not under any cir­cum­stances be asso­cia­ted with spe­ci­fic genes, nor Cha­bi­bu­bo asso­cia­ted with gen­der or non-gen­der. It could even be AI that is publi­shing the document!

In all cases, it is true that we must fight pro­fi­ling, but all types of pro­fi­ling. But most impor­tant­ly, keep our mind open and critical.
