When we have to play our part
A child doesn’t choose to be born. Let’s think about this together. The creation of a new human is an extraordinary thing. The word extraordinary isn’t even strong enough. Recently, I looked at the process of creating a human embryo. I stopped when it came to molecular biochemistry because it’s quite intense, and it’s a bit like taking an interest in ants as a whole, but only studying the mechanics of one leg, it lacks hindsight.
We must be aware of our implicit responsibility with the arrival of a new person. Our behaviour has been influenced by the behaviour of others towards us. In a way, we are linked by an almost infinite chain of interactions amongst each other. Nature obviously sends us stimuli that we respond to, but that is only a small portion of what makes us who we are.
If we want people to change, it is up to us to change our actions towards them. We cannot expect the earth to correct its behaviour because it changes its climate, the only people on whom we have a power of direct and immediate change is us, not our neighbour, not our loved ones, not Donald Trump, us.
