When change takes time
I consider myself to be passionate about change, and Dr King’s contribution falls exactly within that state of mind. Let’s see why. According to Wikipedia, Dr King was publicly recognised as being active between 1955 and 1968, the year of his assassination. In the name of what madness was his life taken?
Obviously, the orchestrators of this assassination were at the height of stupidity, they did not realise that: 1. Turning a pioneering character into a martyr was probably one of the elements furthest from their diabolical plan. 2. Injecting force into an opposition relationship will usually result in an almost equivalent counter-coup.
In the end, this horrible tragedy probably had the opposite effect that this terrorist group/individual expected. I daren’t think that this assassination could have been ordered by others, making the situation even more pathetic.
Nevertheless, without this overshadowing all the sadness and suffering of the loss of this icon, we can still emphasise his courage and conviction even today. He has certainly shown future generations the way by opening their eyes and liberating their minds from ancient beliefs and paradigms.
