When the results seem to take their time
Let’s have a little chat about the
results of our efforts. How do we know if the work we’ve done has been
worthwhile? Let’s have a think. Before looking for results, we must have given
ourselves a certain hypothesis. Let’s say I write this blog post with a
specific goal in mind, I may not achieve that goal, but what does that mean?
First of all, I may not be familiar enough with the context. It’s kind of like
someone asking you what you’re going to score in Caterpie’s game, but you don’t
know this game. What is there for you to do? Try. Even if you were to watch
people playing this game, that wouldn’t show you how much time each player has
invested into their training. And let’s assume that you examine a person from
their birth to their death, all in order to be able to answer that question,
well, that wouldn’t help you to realise your own abilities.
Although this game does
not exist, it represents all of the activities that you can accomplish
throughout your life. It’s all about balance. We start by observing, then we
do, we evaluate, we improve. This is the route to complete mastery.
