When the label leaves a void
Doctor, teacher, CEO, welder, civil servant, etc.; all labels that sometimes take over. Let’s see why. In a previous post, https://coachdanny.ca/2019/09/17/solomotivation-tuesdaymotivation-14/, I talked to you about evolution. Is defining ourselves by our specialised role in society evolution? In my opinion, it’s more like convenience. In this post, I told you that we always tend to go for convenience. But this convenience makes us dependent on one another. In a balanced model, it would probably be a logical and efficient situation, but the human being as it is, this doesn’t apply. And the System wants it otherwise.
Even when we were small, our parents would ask us, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” And we would answer, “I want to be a policeman!” They would let us reply with this kind of answer and everyone would be happy. On the other hand, something’s not quite right. If I were asked the question, “What do you want to do when you’re 50?”, my answer would be, “Lots of things! Art, technology, sport, science, etc.” It would have nothing to do with a job in exchange for a salary! And you? What would you like to be when you grow up?
To be continued…
