When a tag says more than we’d like
Yesterday’s tags were up against each other and to my dismay, today’s one has won. Let’s see what it is. Yesterday, we had a tag about dogs and another about women. Firstly, I love dogs, but never at the expense of a human. Yesterday, the women’s tag was about gender equality, a subject that is a bit outdated in Canada, given that the notion of gender now seems completely open. Taking a biological reality and sticking some causal behaviours and predictable psychological models to it is an ancient construct, before the arrival of modern reason.
Know this, a human will always be free to make their own choices, but to see that the Twittersphere ignites with a passion for our four-legged friends reminds me of this blog post https://coachdanny.ca/2019/04/11/nationalpetday-2/. At first glance, it tends to shock us that the former cannot compromise the latter, but thinking about it, we find this desire to escape social issues by hiding behind fun and frivolity. Good for dogs, in the end.
