When there are times to be the oak and times to be the reed
Motivation is a strength to resist procrastination. But procrastination is like the wind; there are days where it blows damn strong. Let’s think about this. Usually, I’m a motivation oak. I stand strong and resist every procrastination offensive. One of my tricks is to avoid taking too many things at a time. Managing your work in progress is something that works in the office and your personal life. But what other people will think about me then? Whatever they want. They can even share it with me, but I won’t change a thing. Maybe I could try doing more, but the risk is there to get stuck delivering a perfect zero.
As I said, I am usually an oak, but there are times where the procrastination wind blows so strong that it becomes a severe hurricane. When it happens, I turn myself to a reed. While the storm is raging, I take good time fully focusing on my useless activity. It could be gaming, sleeping, chitchatting or even daydreaming. The most important thing here is that trying to resist will make it worse. On the other hand, it gives me a break. The funny part is that this pause creates a burst of motivation once the tempest is weakening. Kinda cool :o)
