When wonders is all around us
Today is the world poetry day and the world Down syndrome day. Incredible how things can go along together. Are you wondering why? Let’s think about this. Poetry and Down Syndrome share something similar in my head, or should I say in my heart. One of my passion is human. No one can be left behind. When you know that more than 5 Millions people “have” this syndrome, you can’t ignore them. I know someone part of this group. He didn’t choose it like I didn’t choose to be part of another group either. But something amazing is the way this syndrome adds a richness in our interactions. Let me explain this. When I communicate with someone, usually I get much information from verbal and non-verbal sources. With my friend, it is different. It is as if I was not able to catch all these signal. This is why I feel so passionate about differences among us. Being all similar would be a catastrophe. Not being able to catch these signal doesn’t mean that there’s none. Like poetry, the miracle is not right in front of us. It lies beneath the surface and requires honest humility to show that we ignore at first and that we wish to learn and discover extraordinary treasures.
